FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Waugh Receives Committee Appointments for 2003-2004 Legislative SessionSenator pleased to be appointed to Appropriations CommitteeHARRISBURG – Sen. Mike Waugh (R-York) has received his committee assignments for the 2003-2004 legislative session, which officially opened with Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony. While continuing to serve as Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, Waugh will also step into the position of Vice Chairman of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee. “York County and the 28th District provide a great deal of variation in terms of rural versus urban communities. I enjoyed being a member of the Urban Affairs Committee last year, but I look forward to being more involved as Vice Chairman, which should prove very beneficial for the district’s urban areas. And of course, I thoroughly enjoy serving the rural areas and our agricultural communities as Chairman of the Ag Committee,” stated Waugh. In addition to continuing as a member on both the Local Government and Public Health & Welfare Committees, Waugh has been appointed to serve on the Appropriations Committee. He realizes the tough road ahead with the current budget situation, but “I am ready for the challenges that might present themselves as we are faced with important financial decisions affecting each and every resident of the Commonwealth in one way or another,” Waugh said. Overall, the Senator is looking forward to an exciting new session and another rewarding four years serving the residents of the 28th District. The Senate will convene again on Monday, January 21. |
