FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Senator Waugh to Hold Informational Forum on Environmental Education ProgramsYORK –State Senator Mike Waugh has once again invited educators to a forum at which a panel of speakers will share information on environmental education programs. As Chairman of the Chesapeake Bay Commission (CBC), Sen. Waugh has arranged for Marel Raub, the Pennsylvania Director of the CBC, to provide an overview of the Commission's grant program, which allows students and teachers the opportunity to participate in local restoration and protection projects for the Bay and local watersheds. The program also supports stewardship in schools and on school property. Two individuals from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Tom Ackerman and Christi Hadden, will present educational opportunities available for teachers and students through programs such as the Susquehanna Watershed Education Program. Also, as Chairman of the Senate Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee, Sen. Waugh has asked Brenda Herman from the Agriculture Awareness Foundation to speak on the Ag in the Classroom Program. In addition, local presentations will be given by Susan Dubbs, Education/Communications Coordinator for the York County Conservation District and Jodi Sulpizio with Nixon County Park. The forum is being held this Thursday, March 17th at Goodwill Fire Co., 1 S. Main Street (Susquehanna Trail) in Jacobus. Registration begins at 4pm, and the program runs from 4:30-6pm. Members of the community, as well as media, are welcome to attend.
