October 25, 2011 - Carolyne Henry of Dallastown, York County's and Pennsylvania’s Distinguished Young Woman visited the Capitol and was recognized in the Senate.

May 18, 2011 - On my behalf, Greg Beckenbaugh of my staff presented a congratulatory citation to Abigail Tabachini, a 2nd grader from Manchester, who was a winner in the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest.

April 18, 2011 - American Red Cross has launched their Citizen's (Hands-Only) CPR class, and I had the opportunity to participate in this 30-minute presentation designed to teach untrained bystanders to perform hands-only CPR.

March 23, 2011 - Over a two week period in March, the Senate Appropriations Committee, of which I am a member, conducted budget hearings to gather in-depth information from Cabinet Secretaries regarding Governor Corbett's proposed budget.

January 26, 2011 - As a member of the Senate Majority Policy Committee I participated in a hearing on the local impacts of Marcellus Shale drilling.

January 24, 2011 - I am proud to be serving a third term as Majority Caucus Chairman. January 14, 2011 - I once again participated in the Celebrity Cow Milking Contest at the Farm Show. My team, "Going Guernsey" was led by Deputy Agriculture Secretary Mike Pechart (far left) and included former New England Patriot football player Todd Rucci, ABC27 news anchor Valerie Pritchett, Pennsylvania Cable Network reporter Kat Prickett.
 

January 12, 2011 - At this year's Farm Show, I took second place in the 2nd Annual VIP Dairy Showmanship Contest, showing a Guernsey owned by Kelly Johnson of Rutter's Farm.

January 11, 2011 - As a member of the Farm Show Commission, and the newly formed Friends of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Foundation, I organized and emceed the first annual Draft Horse Team Driving Event featuring local celebrities, including Rep. Stan Saylor, Rep. Dan Moul, Scott Donato from WGTY, Senator Elder Vogel, and Senator Mike Brubaker.
 

January 4, 2011 - On opening day of the 2011-2012 legislative session, I was sworn into the Senate along with 24 of my fellow Senators.
